Bush to skip convention: White House says president, vice president will focus on hurricane.
That's some award-winning spin, ladies and gentlemen. Someone on the Bush train deserves a big fat promotion. Not only do they get to avoid the crushing truth that his presence wouldn't be doing the Republican Party any favors, but Bush gets another whack at appearing to be a competent leader during a crisis.
Somebody at the White House should be printing up some "Thanks, Gustav" t-shirts. . .
